For as long as I can remember, I have suffered from annoying lower back pain whenever I stand for more than thirty minutes in my home kitchen, even though I had floor mats to protect me from the hard ceramic tiles. I thought my pain was simply a result of a severe back injury I experienced as a young child, combined with a few automobile accidents later in life. Searching high and low for a comfortable, but attractive, floor mat didn't produce any results. I found lots of decorative mats, but without comfort. I also found several industrial "anti-fatigue" mats, but frankly they were all too ugly to put in my home ( and many of them had a distinctively unpleasant rubber smell ).
Not giving up, I hand-made a couple of cushioned floor mats and placed them in front of my sink and stove and immediately felt relief. Pretty quickly I heard from neighbours, friends and family that they too suffer from the pain of standing, and wanted similar mat solutions.
Thus the birth of Stand Ease®. After consulting with hundreds of people and investigating industries previously foreign to me, I developed the optimum manufacturing techniques with just the right thickness, density and product composition to solve this problem.
